Healing Takes Time

There are times when you feel so numb that all you want to do is escape reality or wish you could remove a day or more from your past. The times when writing, music, nature, solitude, people, every single thing fails to heal. Life takes a toll on you. It is that time when life knocks you down by throwing reality in your face and you come out of your dream world.

You pretend to be happy but your true friends know what'st the reality behind that pretentious smile. It is when you realise who knows you truly. When they ask you, "are you alright?" tears begin to well up in your eyes on their own. They never mean to make you cry, but you know what, crying helps you overcome grief. When you are so hurt that you are not even able to cry, no matter how much you try, it's when they come and help you cry your heart out. When you feel light hearted after crying is what helps you heal. You can always vent out in front of them and they listen to you intently. All they want is to share your pain and help you come out of it.

You can't wrap your wounded heart in a bandage or apply any ointment. It requires a treatment of words, consolation, and sympathy. Healing takes time. Time is the best healer. Doesn't matter how deeply hurt you are, eventually you come out of it. You begin to live in present. You begin to accept reality. You can't forget the past completely, but it gradually starts fading away from your memories.

Besides, at the end, friends, family or time, nothing can help you heal until you yourself want to heal. It depends on you whether you want to keep mourning your past or you want to move on and accept reality the way you accepted your dreams.

If you're sad or going through tough times, I am sending across a warm virtual hug for you. Be strong and move on. Your happiness means a lot to your family and friends. Learn to smile again. Tough times will pass soon. You have got to be strong.

I would conclude this with these words, "Learn to love yourself, it's all that matters."

  1. Wow! Amazing you know this writing reminds me my 1st article I wrote a decade ago for a book called Waiting. That was unbelievable experience.
Keep on writing and keep on shining. ... Long way to go (",")
