My Attempt At Returning to Love: Reading A Course In Miracles

My Writing Prompt of the day was: Return. And it took me straight to a book I bought twice.


There was a time I wanted to earn enough money so that I could afford to buy A Course in Miracles with my own money.


Coming from a family where I was the first and only reader, buying a book for ₹3500 was not an easy investment.


I Got Scammed The First Time I Bought ACIM


It is expensive. And I got scammed the first time I purchased it.


Yes, scammed.


I placed the order for ACIM on Amazon in 2020. I waited and waited and the book never arrived. I can't clearly remember whether the seller cancelled it or marked it as delivered. It was a prepaid order for ₹3500+.


I called Amazon customer care and they refunded the amount. The seller never responded.


I remained skeptical after that. For a long time, I did not buy it again.

Why I Ordered A Course in Miracles Again in 2024


In 2024, I had started making money again. But I had also faced a very traumatic event.


I needed something to hold on to. I was looking for answers — not the logical kind, but the kind that makes your heart feel safe again.


So I placed the order again.


Thankfully, it arrived this time and my joy knew no bounds.


ACIM Is Not An Easy Read — And That's Okay


I read a few pages but I never knew ACIM is such a tough read. I have to read almost each paragraph multiple times to understand it.


I kept it away in a drawer and forgot about it.


Yesterday, I was clearing my drawer and I found the book again. I picked it up and started reading. My interest grew louder.


It's still not an easy read but maybe, I now have more knowledge or more lived experience required to understand its content.

ACIM is not a book you finish. It is a course you live. It has 3 parts — Text, Workbook for Students (365 lessons), and Manual for Teachers. You are supposed to read slowly.


The One Lesson I Have Learned So Far: We Were Never Separate From Love And God


We need to return to love, to God... to know and believe we were never separate from God and from love.


That is the gist I have got so far.


For me, reading this book is my attempt to go back to love.


After trauma, after self-doubt, after losing my journaling consistency in 2020 — returning to love feels like returning to myself.
