Using AI as a Parent: A real, honest look at what actually worked for me

I did not start using AI to become a “perfect parent.”

I started using it because I was tired.
Confused.
And sometimes, completely out of ideas.

What I found was not a replacement for my instincts.
But a quiet support system that helped me show up better.

This is not about depending on AI.
It is about using it wisely.

The medicine battles that lasted 3 years

If you’ve ever tried giving medicine to a toddler, you already know.

It can feel like a war.

For 3 years, it was exactly that in my home.
Tears. Resistance. Fear. For both of us.

Then one day, I asked AI a simple question:

“How can I give medicine to my child from a place of love instead of fear?”

And something shifted.

The suggestions were not magical.
But they changed me.

My tone softened.
My approach became calmer.
I stopped forcing and started connecting.

And it worked.

Not overnight like a movie scene.
But gently, steadily.

Then I took it one step further.

I generated images of a little princess happily taking her medicine from a measuring cup.

My daughter saw it.

And something clicked.

Suddenly, medicine wasn’t scary.
It became a story she could step into.

That one small shift changed something we had struggled with for years.

When “someone else” says it, they listen

If you’re a parent, you know this truth:

Sometimes, your child listens to literally anyone except you.

My daughter is like that.

So I found a workaround.

I use ElevenLabs to generate simple voice notes like:

“Ashvika, the toy shop is closed today. Please come tomorrow.”

I send it on WhatsApp to my husband.

He plays it casually.

And just like that…
She accepts it.

No meltdown.
No negotiation.

She simply says,
“It’s okay mom, we’ll go some other day.”

It feels funny.
But it works.

And sometimes, peace matters more than logic.

Midnight panic and forgotten instructions

Fever nights are the hardest.

Especially when the temperature doesn’t drop even after paracetamol.

In those moments, panic takes over.
And even things you already know disappear from your mind.

That’s where I use ChatGPT.

Not for new advice.
Not to replace my doctor.

But to remind me of what I already trust.

Things my doctor has already suggested.
Things I’ve already done before.

Cooling steps.
Hydration reminders.
What to watch for.

It helps me come back to calm.

Because sometimes, you don’t need new information.
You just need to remember what you already know.

Storybooks that solve behavior

There were phases when behavior felt overwhelming.

Hitting.
Big emotions.
No listening.

And honestly, I didn’t always know how to respond.

So I tried something different.

I used Google Gemini to create short storybooks where my daughter was the main character.

In those stories, she handled situations differently.
More gently.
More kindly.

No lectures.
No scolding.

Just stories.

And slowly, those stories started reflecting in real life.

Because children don’t learn from instructions.
They learn from what they see and feel.

Screen-free play without overthinking

Another thing I constantly struggled with was:

“How do I keep her engaged without screens?”

So I started asking AI in a very simple way:

“I have a whiteboard and a marker.”
“I have paper and crayons.”

And ChatGPT would give me game ideas instantly.

Simple ones.
Doable ones.
No Pinterest pressure.

It removed the mental load of “figuring it out.”

And that alone made a huge difference.

The most important part

I don’t blindly follow anything AI tells me.

And I don’t think you should either.

I take what feels right.
What aligns with my child.
What aligns with my doctor’s advice.
What aligns with my intuition.

I ignore the rest.

AI is not raising my child.

I am.

AI is just a tool.

A very helpful one, yes.
But still just a tool.

What changed for me

I am calmer.
More patient.
More creative.

Not because AI is magical.
But because it gave me support in moments where I felt stuck.

And sometimes, that is all a parent needs.

A little support.
At the right time.

If you are overwhelmed, you don’t need to do everything alone.

Use the tools available to you.

Just don’t forget:

You are still the parent.
And your instinct still comes first.
