A Higher Law Than Karma: The Law Of Grace

I learned about a new Law today. I was reading The Game of Life and How To Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn when I came across this law on page 60.

I couldn’t grasp the language and its meaning properly, so took help of ChatGPT to explain those pages to me.

Here’s what it said:

Florence Scovel Shinn is saying:

  • Karma is the law of cause and effect — meaning, whatever you do (good or bad), you’ll eventually experience the consequences of it.
  • But Jesus Christ taught that there’s a higher law than karma. This higher law is called the Law of Grace.

🌟 What is the Law of Grace?

  • It’s the spiritual law that can free you from the effects of past actions.
  • Instead of suffering for your past mistakes (as karma says), you can be forgiven and start fresh — if you truly trust and surrender to divine power (God, Christ, or the Higher Self).

“Under grace, and not under law” means:

You’re no longer stuck in the strict rule of karma (law). Instead, you live in divine flow — where miracles, forgiveness, and unexpected blessings happen, even if you “don’t deserve” them by worldly standards.

Second Page Explained (Page 61):

It says that:

  • The subconscious mind is powerful, but it takes instructions without thinking — like a robot. It doesn’t question whether something is good or bad, right or wrong.
  • So if you fill your subconscious with faith, positive beliefs, and truth, it will work to create those results in your life.
  • When your subconscious is aligned with your “superconscious” (your divine or higher self), you experience transformation — not just mentally, but even in your physical body.
  • This is what the author calls the “resurrection of the body” — a complete transformation of life through divine power and belief.

Simple Summary:

You don’t have to suffer endlessly for your past. There’s a divine shortcut: Grace.

When you trust God completely and align your mind with truth and love, you rise above karma.

Your subconscious will follow the instructions you give it — so give it faith, not fear.
